My way of working is not easily captured in a step-by-step plan. Many steps overlap and intertwine.
As you can see, there is quite a lot to think about. But don’t panic, I will walk with you along the way.
The first step is to take an in-depth look at your design.
We look at details like the fit, design details, the materials and seams and stitches.
In short what does your design look on the outside and the inside? The more I know upfront, the faster I can work.
To create the best possible fit, I need to know a bit more about your customers.
We’ll take a look at your target customer and find the right sizes matching your customers.
To create the patterns I use tried and tested base blocks. But you can also supply your own base blocks if you have them.
Since fitting issues are the number one reason why clothing is returned, it is very important to offer the best fit possible.
Right after the analysis I start with a digital sample. This allows us to visualize the look and feel of the garment before cutting one piece of fabric.
You can view and comment on this digital sample in an online environment and I will tweak it until it is exactly to your liking.
Digital samples are not only an sustainable alternative to real samples, digital sampling also makes the pattern development process faster and more reliable.
I start as soon as possible with the tech pack since good technical documentation is a must to keep things running smoothly.
Once the digital sample is approved, I work out the details into a production-ready pattern.
You’re now ready to have your sample made!
There is nothing better than seeing and feeling your design up close yourself.
During a sample review session we take an in-depth look at the sample and check it against the tech pack.
If necessary, the pattern and the tech pack are updated with the required changes.
After the real life sample is approved the pattern pieces are finalized, checked and graded in the desired size range.
Together with the updated tech pack, you’re all set to take your designs into production!
Since I cannot show detailed client info, I created a sample project to show you the complete process from sketch to production package.
With my guidance you will have your garments made without losing your time, your money or your mind.
This process will be tailored to your way of working, your specific needs and experience.
